here's my honest opinion

i just think there's a lack of that freshness about joe....when he first came out, what he was doing was so fresh....i remember listening to when thugs cry for the first time before he even had a def jam board, i was blown away..."rap like this existed?"....His lyrics were more simpler, but there was more depth to them...i was hooked....everything he did seemed genuine.

fast forward to today

he's still rapping about some personal emotional shit. His lyrics got sharper, but the depth of them suffered. It no longer feels as genuine. It feels like sometimes he says things for the sake of saying clever shit and because it would make an eye popping line, rather than to convey something, and thats why at times he contradicts himself. And what he's rapping about is no longer fresh. It feels redundant at times. We feel like we're getting Joe Budden the movie on repeat.


I think he should step away from music for a while, and give acting a shot. Go through an artistic rebirth and then come back to it after. This shit isnt going anywhere. He didnt build his fanbase and position in the game off of bullshit radio singles that come and ago, so whatever he has achieved will always be reserved for him.
